It is the highest Apennine chief town in the metropolitan area of Bologna and, thanks to its position, it offers a suggestive view of the Monte Cimone chain.
The area is full of small hamlets, rich in churches, fascinating historical buildings and ancient mills that can be admired combining car trips and walks in the countryside along the waterways. There are several places to visit, starting with Labante, which is home to the fascinating caves, surrounded by a splendid natural setting and embellished by suggestive waterfalls.
Also of interest is the ancient Abbey of Santa Lucia di Roffeno, located a short distance from Rocca di Roffeno and featuring typical hamlets and scattered cottages nestled in the green woods.
